Banburury Chess Club

Banbury chess club the ‘RAF Association club’, Newland House located in Broad Street in Banbury.

It does NOT have a car park.Parking is FREE after 7pm in the nearby NCP car park in Christchurch Court; use OX16 5DT in your sat-nav.

Bicester Chess Club

Directions to the Club by road

From M40 Junction 9, follow signs to Bicester

At first roundabout, take the second exit (i.e. Continue straight on)

At second Roundabout, with large Esso garage on left hand side, Turn Right (A41 Aylesbury)

Up and over railway line on the Bicester By Pass to next roundabout

Take 1st exit signposted "B4100 Bicester Town Centre"

At roundabout, take 2nd exit (i.e. go straight on)

Pass Shell garage on the right, continue on over level crossing at Bicester Town Station

About 50 yards on, Look out for signpost on the left pointing right to "Bowls  & Tennis Club"

Turn right down the lane and park in the car park on the left

The club entrance is in the centre of the building as you look at it. Directions to the Club by Bus from Oxford

Take S5 Stagecoach service from outside Randolf Hotel to Bicester, Market Square

Turn right after getting off bus and walk up to top of square

Turn right onto Sheep Street and walk past the shops until you reach a mini roundabout - Approx 100 yards

Cross over and continue straight onto London Road

Watch for a signpost on the right hand side of the road pointing left for "Bowls & Tennis Club" - approx 100 yards

Turn left down the lane and the clubhouse is at the end of the lane on the left with the entrance in the centre.

Cowley Chess Club

The church stands on the fairly steep section of Rose Hill on the left hand side coming down from the Rose Hill shops and the ring road. It lies behind a low stone wall next to the traffic camera about 100 metres above the traffic lights where Henley Avenue becomes Rose Hill. There is off street car parking to the rear of the Church which is approached through an entrance at the very top of the service road just past the Church. If you are using public transport in Oxford take a No. 3 or 3a bus from Queen Street in the centre of town, ask the driver for the Westbury Crescent stop, and walk back down Rose Hill to the Church.

 

The entrance to the Chess Club is down a passage at the south end of the Church, the left hand side as you view it from the road. There is space here for bicycles to be left.
